Dubset launches MixCrate with deadmau5’s label, mau5trap

Due to the wealth of unofficially licenced content created daily, it’s always been an ambition of many platforms to legally organise and licence content for distribution, helping rights holders and content creators get paid legally for their work.

Dubset is known for its work in this arena, aiming to provide rights clearance for distribution of bootlegs, remixes and DJ mixes. The company has been partnering with labels to create a database of tracks to make this happen and has now partnered with mau5trap – the label of Canadian producer/DJ deadmau5 – to launch MixCrate, a new feature to help DJs find the tracks they need more quickly.

MixCrate essentially cuts down on sifting through Dubset’s 45 million tracks, offering instead a readily available curated pool of tracks to DJs for their mixes or producers for remixes or edits. This curation angle will also benefit labels, the company touts, by helping them build bridges with content creators.

The first to arrive on MixCrate, mau5trap will be curating a decade’s worth of tracks from its label artists, including Feed Me, Rezz, i_o, No Mana, ATTLAS and Tinlicker.

The collaboration between Dubset and mau5trap also extends to a collection of VIP mixes released through Apple Music. Amongst the mixes are sets by Testpilot, one of deadmau5’s aliases.
